South Africa to Bangladesh visa requirements

South African ordinary passport holders need a visa BEFORE traveling to Bangladesh. There is no visa-free entry, and South Africa is NOT on Bangladesh's visa-on-arrival list. Apply at the Bangladesh High Commission in Pretoria. The visa.gov.bd "Online MRV Portal" is an online form you fill in and print, then submit in person with documents and fees — it is not a true eVisa. As of mid-2026, a South Africa (ZA) ordinary passport holder must obtain a Bangladesh visa in advance for tourism or a short visit. Bangladesh does not grant visa-free access to South African citizens, and South Africa is not among the nationalities eligible for Bangladesh's visa on arrival (visa on arrival is reserved mainly for select countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and most EU states, or for travelers from countries with no Bangladeshi mission). The Bangladesh Online MRV Portal (visa.gov.bd) lets applicants complete the form online, but the printed form must be submitted physically with the passport, photo, supporting documents and fee to the High Commission — Bangladesh does not yet operate a fully online/printable eVisa for general tourists. A standard tourist (T) visa is typically issued for a 30-day stay, single entry, with the visa valid for entry within about 90 days of issue. Visa fees vary by nationality and entry type; for South African applicants the single-entry tourist fee generally falls in the roughly USD 50-160 band plus any local service charges. Given that no reliable no-visa channel exists, the conservative and correct verdict is visa-required.
