🇻🇳VIETNAM🇭🇰HONG KONGVN-HK Do Vietnam passport holders need a visa to visit Hong Kong?
Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Hong Kong. Vietnam is not on Hong Kong's visa-free list, so you must obtain a visit visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department before you travel. Holders of an ordinary Vietnam passport cannot enter Hong Kong visa-free for tourism. While nationals of around 170 countries enjoy visa-free entry of 7 to 180 days, Vietnam is not among them. Vietnamese travellers must apply for and obtain a visit visa from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Immigration Department before departure — there is no visa on arrival and no eVisa/pre-arrival registration shortcut for Vietnamese nationals. A first-time single-journey visit visa typically authorises a stay of up to 7 days. Since October 2023 the criteria for multiple-journey (multiple-entry) visit visas have been relaxed for Vietnamese travellers with a clean travel history: these visas can be valid for 2 to 3 years and allow stays of up to 14 days per visit. Applications can be lodged through the Immigration Department's online e-Visa platform, by post, or via the nearest Chinese diplomatic/consular mission, and usually take around four weeks to process. Travellers joining a tour group through a licensed Hong Kong travel agent are normally processed in about two weeks.
