Do Vietnam passport holders need a visa to visit CZ?
Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Czechia for tourism. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival option. Czechia is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Vietnam is not on the EU visa-exemption list. A Vietnamese ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travelling for tourism. Applications are submitted in person through VFS Global visa centres in Hanoi, Da Nang, or Ho Chi Minh City (according to place of residence), on behalf of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Hanoi. The visa permits a maximum stay of 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area. The standard application fee is EUR 90 for adults, plus a VFS service fee. Decisions are normally issued within 15 calendar days, extendable to 45 days in complex cases. Applicants must show proof of accommodation, return travel, sufficient funds, and travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000. Note on ETIAS: the EU's ETIAS travel authorisation (expected to launch in late 2026) applies only to visa-exempt nationalities; because Vietnamese passport holders require a visa, ETIAS will not replace the Schengen visa requirement for them.
