United States to Kenya visa requirements

US ordinary passport holders need an approved Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travel unless they qualify for a specific exemption. The standard eTA allows one entry and starts at USD 30; Kenya also lists a five-year multi-entry eTA for American nationals at USD 185. As of 21 June 2026, US ordinary passport holders are not listed in Kenya's 2025 eTA-exempt nationality groups and must obtain an approved Electronic Travel Authorisation before starting travel to Kenya. Kenya's official eTA pages state that visitors, including children, need an approved eTA before the journey, and the FAQ says travelers are only allowed to travel after approval. The standard eTA allows one entry, costs USD 30, and is valid for travel within 90 days from issuance; the stay length is determined at the port of entry and is commonly up to 90 days. Kenya's official eligibility page also lists a five-year multi-entry eTA for American nationals at USD 185, plus separate transit and one-year multi-entry products. Standard processing is generally within 3 working days/72 hours but may take longer; an expedited processing option is listed as an additional USD 100. U.S. State Department guidance says entry requires a passport with six months' validity, two blank pages, and a Kenyan eTA. CDC guidance says yellow fever vaccine proof is not required for direct travel from the United States, but is required for travelers aged 1 year or older arriving from countries with yellow fever risk.
