United States to Bolivia visa requirements

US ordinary passport holders no longer need a visa for tourism in Bolivia. As of December 1, 2025, Bolivia abolished its long-standing US tourist-visa requirement, allowing visa-free stays of up to 90 days per calendar year. Bolivia is visa-free for US ordinary passport holders for tourism and business as of December 1, 2025, when the Paz government scrapped the $185 reciprocity visa that had been in place since 2007. US citizens may now stay up to 90 days within a one-year period without a consular visa. A valid passport with at least six months' validity beyond arrival is required. Before flying, all travelers should complete the free SIGEMIG online migratory pre-registration, which generates a QR code presented at the border. Proof of onward/return travel and proof of sufficient funds may be requested, especially at land borders. An International Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination is recommended and may be required, particularly for travel to lowland regions east of the Andes (Beni, Pando, and parts of Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, La Paz, Chuquisaca and Tarija). The 90-day stay can be extended once at SIGEMIG/migration offices in La Paz, Santa Cruz or Cochabamba for up to a total of 180 days per calendar year.
