United States to Angola visa requirements

US ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourist visits to Angola. Since 28 September 2023, Angola grants visa-free entry to US citizens for up to 30 days per visit (extendable in-country once), capped at 90 days total per calendar year. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. As of 1 June 2026, citizens of the United States holding an ordinary passport can travel to Angola for tourism without obtaining any visa in advance. Angola added the US to its visa-exemption list on 28 September 2023 as part of a 98-country tourism liberalization. The exemption allows stays of up to 30 days per entry, with a maximum of 90 days in total within a single calendar year (and a maximum of three visa-free entries per calendar year). The 30-day stay can be extended once inside Angola through the Migration Service (SME) if needed. Travelers do not need to apply for the Angola eVisa or a consular tourist visa for short visits within these limits; the eVisa remains an option only for those who need longer stays or non-tourism purposes. A valid passport (with at least six months' validity recommended and at least one to two blank pages) is required, along with proof of accommodation, onward/return tickets, and sufficient funds, which may be checked at the border. Critically, Angola requires all travelers to present a valid international yellow fever vaccination certificate on entry; the vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before arrival. Overstays are fined (around 15,000 kwanza per day) and can lead to exit and re-entry problems.
