Do Taiwan passport holders need a visa to visit Vietnam?

Taiwan ordinary passport holders need a visa for Vietnam. Apply online for the official e-visa (up to 90 days, single or multiple entry) before you travel. Taiwan (TW) ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for mainland Vietnam. The standard, recommended route for a short tourist visit is the official Vietnamese e-visa, applied for online at evisa.gov.vn before departure. The e-visa is granted for stays of up to 90 days and is available as single entry (USD 25) or multiple entry (USD 50). Standard processing is 3-5 working days, so apply at least 1-2 weeks ahead. The e-visa is valid only at 81 designated international checkpoints (17 airports, 27 land crossings, 39 seaports), and you must select your intended port of entry when applying. Visa-on-arrival (the old pre-approval-letter scheme) is effectively discontinued for individual tourists since 2022 — the e-visa replaces it. One notable exception: travelers arriving DIRECTLY (by air or sea) to Phu Quoc Island and staying only on Phu Quoc may enter visa-free for up to 30 days. For any travel beyond Phu Quoc or longer than 30 days, the e-visa is required. Passports must be valid at least 6 months from entry with 2 blank pages.
