Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to New Caledonia visa requirements

Taiwan ordinary passport holders can visit New Caledonia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, provided the passport bears the holder's national identity card number. New Caledonia is a French overseas collectivity, not part of Schengen, so ETIAS does not apply. New Caledonia is a French overseas collectivity in the South Pacific. France extends its visa exemption for Taiwanese nationals to its overseas territories, including New Caledonia, French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna. Holders of a Republic of China (Taiwan) ordinary passport that includes their national identity card number may enter New Caledonia without a visa for tourism, family, or business stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This is a separate regime from the Schengen area: New Caledonia is NOT in Schengen, a Schengen visa is not valid for entry, and the EU ETIAS travel authorization does not apply here. The 90/180 day allowance for New Caledonia is also counted separately from any Schengen 90/180 usage. Critically, the exemption requires the passport to show the holder's ID number; Taiwanese travelers whose passports do not display the ID number (rare for current ordinary passports) must apply for a short-stay visa in advance. Passports must be issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date, and have at least two blank pages. No visa fee applies. Travelers should still carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds, as these may be checked on arrival. Always confirm individual status with the France-Visas Visa Wizard before departure.
