Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Malawi visa requirements

Taiwan (ROC) ordinary passport holders need a visa for Malawi and should apply online for an eVisa before travel via the official portal evisa.gov.mw. Taiwan is not on Malawi's visa-free list, and general visa-on-arrival was abolished, so the eVisa is the reliable channel. As of mid-2026, Taiwanese citizens are not among the roughly two dozen nationalities that Malawi exempts from visas (the list was tightened under Malawi's reciprocity-based policy effective 3 January 2026). Malawi abolished general visa-on-arrival in March 2020, and the Department of Immigration directs all non-exempt travelers to its official e-Visa platform at evisa.gov.mw. Taiwan passport holders should therefore apply for a tourist/visitor eVisa before departure. The standard single-entry visitor visa costs USD 75, is processed in about 3 working days, and permits a short stay (commonly up to 30 days, extendable, within a 90-day validity). The applicant fills out the online form, uploads a passport bio-page scan, a photo and supporting documents, pays by Visa/Mastercard, and prints the approved eVisa to present at the port of entry. Some aggregator sites still list a visa-on-arrival fallback for Taiwan, but because Malawi officially closed general VOA and the eVisa is the directed channel, travelers should arrange the eVisa in advance to avoid being denied boarding or entry.
