Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Madagascar visa requirements

Taiwan ordinary passport holders need a visa for Madagascar, but it is easy to obtain: apply online for a tourist eVisa before departure, or get a visa on arrival at Ivato Airport (Antananarivo). All nationalities are eligible, and the eVisa is the recommended route to avoid airport queues. Madagascar is NOT visa-free for Taiwan (TW) ordinary passport holders. However, Madagascar operates an open electronic visa (eVisa) system available to all nationalities, including Taiwan, plus an identically-priced visa-on-arrival (VOA) at major international airports such as Ivato in Antananarivo. The eVisa is a single-entry tourist authorization with stay tiers up to a maximum of 90 days; the most common short-tourism tier is 1-15 days. Since 16 February 2026 the 15-day eVisa fee tripled from EUR 10 to EUR 30 (about USD 35); longer tiers (16-30, 31-60, 61-90 days) remain at EUR 35/40/50 respectively. eVisa approval is issued within 72 hours of validated online registration, so applications should be submitted at least 3 days before travel (window: 1 week to 6 months ahead). Passport must be valid at least 6 months with three blank pages. Madagascar is in Africa and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The recommended channel for a Taiwan traveler is the official eVisa portal (evisamada-mg.com) for predictability, with VOA as a backup. Default conservative classification is therefore "evisa" rather than visa-free, since no visa-waiver channel exists for Taiwan passport holders.
