🇹🇼Taiwan (Chinese Taipei)🇱🇻LatviaTW-LV Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Latvia visa requirements
Taiwanese ordinary passport holders can visit Latvia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period as a tourist. Latvia is in the Schengen Area, so the standard short-stay rules apply. No visa is needed in advance. ETIAS travel authorisation is expected to become required only from the last quarter of 2026 (with a transitional grace period after), so it is not yet mandatory as of mid-2026. Latvia is a full member of the Schengen Area. Since 11 January 2011, holders of ordinary Taiwan (Republic of China) passports that contain the holder's national ID card number have enjoyed visa-free access to the entire Schengen Area, including Latvia, for short stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This covers tourism, business and family visits. No visa or pre-registration is currently required, though travellers must satisfy general entry conditions (proof of purpose, sufficient funds, onward/return ticket, valid travel insurance is advisable). The passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years and remain valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area. The Entry/Exit System (EES) began rolling out from October 2025 and registers non-EU travellers biometrically at the border. ETIAS, a pre-travel online authorisation (not a visa), is scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional period afterwards, meaning Taiwanese travellers will eventually need to obtain ETIAS before travel; it is not required yet. Until then, eligible Taiwanese passport holders simply board their flight and present their passport at the Schengen external border. The 90-day allowance is cumulative across all Schengen states, not per country.
