🇹🇼Taiwan (Chinese Taipei)🇭🇺HungaryTW-HU Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Hungary visa requirements
No visa needed. Taiwan ordinary passport holders (with a national ID number printed in the passport) can enter Hungary and the rest of the Schengen Area visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS is not yet required as of mid-2026. Hungary is a member of the Schengen Area, and since 11 January 2011 holders of ordinary Taiwanese passports have been exempt from the Schengen short-stay visa. As of 30 May 2026 a Taiwan passport holder can travel to Hungary for tourism, business, family visits or transit without a visa for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. The exemption applies only to ordinary passports that contain the holder's national ID (identity card) number; emergency/temporary passports issued without an ID number do not qualify and require a visa. The passport must have been issued within the previous 10 years and remain valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area. The 90-day allowance is shared across ALL Schengen countries combined, not per country. ETIAS (the European Travel Information and Authorization System) is a future pre-travel authorization for visa-exempt nationals; per the EU it is not yet in operation and is expected to launch in late 2026, after which a small online authorization will be required before travel. Until ETIAS officially starts, no advance application is needed. Travelers should still carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds, as border officers may ask.
