Do Taiwan passport holders need a visa to visit Hong Kong?
No traditional visa needed — complete the free online Pre-arrival Registration for Taiwan Residents before you fly. It is valid 2 months, allows 2 entries, and up to 30 days stay per entry. Ordinary Taiwan passport holders who are Chinese residents of Taiwan (born in Taiwan, or born elsewhere but previously admitted to Hong Kong as a Taiwan resident) do not need a conventional visa for a short tourist visit to Hong Kong. Instead they must obtain a free online Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) through the Hong Kong Immigration Department before departure. Approval is instant; you print the notification slip and present it with your Taiwan passport on arrival. The registration is valid for two months, permits two entries, and allows a stay of up to 30 days on each landing. When it expires or both entries are used, you simply re-register online at no cost. Travellers who cannot meet PAR eligibility (e.g. holding travel documents from authorities outside Taiwan) must instead apply for a visit visa/entry permit. Holders of a valid Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents may alternatively enter using that document.
