Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to The Gambia visa requirements

A Taiwan (ROC) ordinary passport holder needs a visa for The Gambia. Taiwan is not on any Gambian visa-exemption list, but because The Gambia has no diplomatic mission in Taiwan, Taiwanese travelers fall under the rule allowing nationals from countries without a Gambian representation to obtain a visa on arrival (VOA) at Banjul International Airport. Carry proof of onward/return ticket, hotel booking, sufficient funds and a passport valid at least 6 months. Where a host is involved, an entry clearance arranged in advance is strongly advised. The Gambia Immigration Department's current (2024-2026) visa policy grants visa-free entry only to specific groups: African Union and ECOWAS citizens, Commonwealth citizens, all EU/Schengen states plus the UK and Switzerland, Nordic/Baltic/Balkan states, UAE and Turkish nationals, and a handful of micro-states, plus tourists on chartered flights/tour operators. Taiwan (Republic of China) appears in none of these categories, so a Gambian visa is mandatory for Taiwanese ordinary passport holders. The Gambia broke diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 2013/2016 and maintains no embassy or consulate in Taiwan. Under the long-established Gambian rule (restated on the official Government and Banjul Airport sites), nationals of countries where The Gambia has no diplomatic representation may obtain an entry visa on arrival at Banjul International Airport. This makes visa-on-arrival the realistic, best-fit channel for Taiwanese tourists. The tourist visa (class GMB1) is a single-entry visa, typically valid 3 months from issue for a stay not exceeding 90 days. The VOA fee is reported at around USD 100-105, paid in cash (USD or dalasi); a separate Securiport airport security fee of USD 20 (D1000) applies on both arrival and departure, except for diplomats and infants under 2. Required documents include a passport valid for at least 6 months with two blank pages, evidence of sufficient funds, hotel reservation or host address, a return/onward ticket, and (per the tourist-visa class) a medical certificate confirming freedom from communicable diseases. Yellow fever vaccination proof is commonly requested if arriving from or transiting an endemic area. Because immigration officers retain final discretion and policy can change, travelers without a confirmed Gambian host should ideally arrange an entry clearance in advance through a Gambian mission abroad (e.g. the High Commission in Senegal or London) and confirm current VOA availability before flying. The Gambia is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
