🇹🇼TAIWAN🇪🇸SPAIN (SCHENGEN)TW-ES Do Taiwan passport holders need a visa to visit Spain (Schengen)?
Taiwan ordinary passport holders can visit Spain visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area, provided the passport shows the holder's National ID number. Holders of an ordinary Taiwan (ROC) passport that displays the holder's National ID number enjoy visa-free entry to Spain and the entire Schengen Area for short tourist or business visits — up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No visa or pre-travel authorization is needed as of 30 May 2026. Since 10 April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is fully operational, so at the Spanish border travelers register biometrics (a facial photo and fingerprints) instead of receiving a passport stamp; this is done on arrival with no advance application. ETIAS — the future pre-travel authorization for visa-exempt nationals — is not yet in operation; it is expected to launch in late 2026 with a transitional grace period, so it is not currently required. Travelers must still satisfy standard Schengen entry conditions: a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure and issued within the last 10 years, proof of onward/return travel, sufficient funds, accommodation details, and travel medical insurance is strongly recommended. The 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen states, not per country.
