Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Czechia visa requirements

Taiwan ordinary passport holders can visit Czechia visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, as long as the passport shows the holder's national ID number. Czechia is in the Schengen Area. As of June 2026, no ETIAS authorization is required yet (expected to launch in late 2026). Czechia (Czech Republic) is a member of the Schengen Area, and the EU grants visa-free short-stay access to holders of ordinary Taiwan (Republic of China) passports. The key condition is that the passport must contain the holder's Taiwan national ID card number printed in the travel document; passports without the ID number do not qualify for the visa waiver. Visa-free travelers may stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area (not Czechia alone) for tourism, family visits, business meetings and similar non-employment purposes. Work and stays longer than 90 days require a national long-term visa or residence permit from the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei. The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the planned departure date from the Schengen Area and issued within the previous 10 years. Looking ahead, the EU's European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will eventually require visa-exempt nationals, including Taiwanese, to obtain a EUR 20 online travel authorization before travel. ETIAS is currently expected to begin operations in the last quarter of 2026, followed by transitional and grace periods, so it is NOT yet mandatory as of June 2026. The related Entry/Exit System (EES) began phased rollout and reached full implementation in April 2026, meaning travelers should expect biometric registration (fingerprints and facial image) at the border instead of passport stamps. Travelers should confirm ETIAS status close to their travel date.
