Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Cuba visa requirements

A Taiwan (ROC) ordinary passport holder needs a Cuba eVisa (mandatory for nearly all travelers since 1 July 2025), applied for online before departure. CRITICAL CAUTION: despite the formal eVisa channel, Cuba is strongly pro-Beijing and has repeatedly denied entry to ROC passport holders. Taiwan's MOFA maintains an Orange "avoid travel" advisory for Cuba. Entry is not reliable even with an approved eVisa. Cuba is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. Cuba replaced its paper tourist card with a mandatory electronic visa (eVisa) on 1 July 2025; the old Tarjeta de turista expired 30 June 2025. The single-entry eVisa permits a tourist stay of up to 90 days, extendable once in-country for another 90 days. Applications are made through Cuba's official portal (evisacuba.cu), and a separate D'Viajeros health/customs declaration must be completed within 7 days before arrival. However, the practical reality for Taiwan passport holders is serious: Cuba maintains close diplomatic ties with the PRC, does not recognize the ROC, and immigration officers have refused entry to multiple ROC passport holders (including a documented 2023 case of a traveler held ~25 hours and deported). Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) lists Cuba at the Orange (third-tier) advisory level, advising citizens to avoid non-essential travel and noting that obtained information about ROC entry is inconsistent. The eVisa system also requires selecting the designation "Taiwan Province of China," which travelers should be aware of. Therefore, while an eVisa is the formal entry document, approval of the eVisa does not guarantee admission, and travelers should confirm current acceptance directly with a Cuban consulate before booking.
