Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit SE?
Türkiye ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Sweden for tourism. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival option, and Turkish nationals are NOT eligible for ETIAS. Sweden is a Schengen member, and Türkiye is on the EU's visa-required list, so Turkish ordinary passport holders must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travelling. Applications are lodged through VFS Global in Türkiye (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya) on behalf of the Swedish Consulate General, with biometrics collected in person (waived only if you gave biometrics for a Schengen visa within the last 59 months). The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen area. The standard visa fee is EUR 90 plus a VFS service fee, processing is normally about 15 calendar days (apply up to 6 months ahead and no later than 15 days before travel). Important: Turkish citizens are explicitly NOT covered by ETIAS — when ETIAS launches it will not apply to nationalities that still require a visa, so a full Schengen visa remains mandatory.
