Türkiye to Romania visa requirements
Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Romania. Romania is a full Schengen member since 1 January 2025, so the uniform Schengen visa applies. ETIAS does not apply to Turkish nationals. A Turkey ordinary passport holder traveling to Romania for tourism must obtain a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) before departure. Romania became a full member of the Schengen Area on 1 January 2025 (air and sea internal borders lifted in March 2024, land borders in January 2025), so it issues and accepts the uniform Schengen visa rather than a separate national tourist visa. Turkey is on the EU list of countries whose nationals require a visa, so there is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa channel for short tourist stays. The standard adult visa fee is EUR 90 (since 11 June 2024). The short stay is governed by the Schengen 90/180 rule: a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area. Since July 2025, a "cascade" rule lets bona fide Turkish travelers who have lawfully used two visas in the previous three years obtain longer multi-entry visas (one year, then up to five years). ETIAS does NOT apply to Turkish citizens because ETIAS is only for visa-exempt nationalities; Turkey is visa-required. A traveler who already holds a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa issued by any Schengen state may use it to enter Romania without a separate Romanian visa. Apply at a Romanian consulate/VFS in Turkey or upload documents via Romania's national visa portal (e-viza.mae.ro); always confirm via official EU and Romanian government sources before travel.
