Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit Portugal (Schengen)?

Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Portugal for tourism. Portugal is in the Schengen Area, and Turkey is not on the visa-exempt list, so a visa must be obtained in advance. Portugal is part of the Schengen Area, and holders of ordinary Türkiye passports are NOT visa-exempt. You must apply for a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before departure at the Portuguese consular service in Türkiye or its appointed visa center (e.g., VFS Global). The visa allows tourism stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. As of 30 May 2026 the standard adult visa fee is EUR 80, rising to EUR 90 on 11 June 2026, plus a service-center fee. ETIAS does NOT apply to Turkish ordinary passport holders — because they are visa-required, they continue using the traditional Schengen visa rather than the ETIAS travel authorization (which is reserved for visa-exempt nationalities). The new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) records border crossings but does not replace the visa requirement. Apply 3-6 weeks ahead; processing is typically about 15 calendar days but can extend up to 45 days in busy periods.
