Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit NL?
Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit the Netherlands for tourism. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival option, and Turkey is not eligible for ETIAS. The Netherlands is a Schengen Area country. Turkey is one of the few EU candidate states whose citizens are NOT visa-exempt for the Schengen Area, so Turkish ordinary passport holders must obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before travelling for tourism. Applications are filed in Türkiye through VFS Global centres (Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Bursa, Edirne, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir) on behalf of the Dutch consulate. A visa permits a maximum stay of 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area. The standard visa fee is EUR 90 plus a VFS service fee (~EUR 26), and processing usually takes about 15 calendar days (submit no later than 45 days before, up to 6 months ahead). Because Turkey is visa-required, it does NOT use ETIAS — ETIAS only applies to visa-exempt nationalities. Travelers should book the appointment early as peak-season slots fill quickly.
