Türkiye to Mauritania visa requirements

Turkish ordinary passport holders need an e-visa to visit Mauritania. Since January 2025, Mauritania requires all visa-nationals (including Turkey) to apply online via the official ANRPTS portal before boarding; the visa fee (about EUR 55 for 30 days) is paid in cash on arrival. A Turkey (TR) ordinary passport holder cannot enter Mauritania visa-free. Mauritania exempts only Turkish diplomatic and service passport holders, not tourists on ordinary passports. As of 5 January 2025, Mauritania launched a mandatory electronic visa (e-Visa) system run by the National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles (ANRPTS, anrpts.gov.mr). The old visa-on-arrival channel and embassy-issued visas have been discontinued: by June 2025 Mauritanian embassies stopped issuing visas and now direct all applicants to the online portal. Travelers must complete the online application, receive an approval document with a QR code, print it, and present it on arrival. Notably, the visa fee is NOT paid online at application time; it must be paid in exact cash (Euros or US dollars) on arrival at the port of entry, typically around EUR 55 / USD 60 for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa. Passports should be valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. Processing of the online approval commonly takes a few business days but can range up to 1-2 weeks, so apply well ahead of travel. Mauritania is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Given that no reliable visa-free or genuine visa-on-arrival channel exists for Turkish ordinary passports, the correct verdict is e-visa.
