Türkiye to Hungary visa requirements

Yes, a visa is required. Turkish ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for the Schengen Area and must obtain a Schengen short-stay (type C) visa before traveling to Hungary for tourism. Turkey is also explicitly excluded from the ETIAS visa-waiver scheme, so an ETIAS will not be an option even after its late-2026 launch. Hungary is a full member of the Schengen Area. Schengen states grant visa-free access to most EU candidate countries, but Turkey is the notable exception: ordinary Turkish passport holders must apply for a Schengen uniform (type C) short-stay visa before any tourist trip. Applications for Hungary in Turkey are lodged through VFS Global (or the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul / Embassy in Ankara) and the standard adult fee is EUR 90 plus the VFS service charge. A Schengen visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area. Note that ETIAS does not apply to Turkish nationals: countries that require a traditional Schengen visa (including Turkey) are not eligible for the ETIAS travel authorisation, so even after ETIAS goes live (expected late 2026) Turkish citizens will continue to need a full Schengen visa. The 90/180 rule is counted on a rolling basis across all Schengen members combined, not per country.
