🇹🇷TÜRKIYE🇫🇷FRANCE (SCHENGEN)TR-FR Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit France (Schengen)?
Yes — a Türkiye ordinary (burgundy) passport holder needs a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit France for tourism. It must be obtained before travel; there is no visa-on-arrival or eVisa, and ETIAS does not apply to Turkish nationals. France is a Schengen Area member, and Türkiye is not on the Schengen visa-exempt list. Holders of an ordinary Turkish passport must apply for a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before departure for any tourist trip. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications for France are handled through the official France-Visas portal and the appointed visa centre (VFS Global / TLScontact) in Türkiye, with biometrics collected in person. Travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000 is mandatory. Note: ETIAS (the EU travel authorisation launching late 2026) is only for visa-exempt nationals and does NOT replace the Schengen visa for Turkish citizens — they continue to apply for the full visa. Only Turkish diplomatic (black), service (green) and special (grey) passport holders are visa-exempt for short stays; ordinary passport holders are not. As of 30 May 2026 the consular fee is EUR 80 (rising to EUR 90 in June 2026). The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) went live on 10 April 2026 and registers travellers' biometrics at the border.
