Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit Egypt?
Türkiye ordinary passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports and ports for tourism — a single-entry visa allowing up to 30 days. An e-Visa is also available online as a smoother alternative. Holders of an ordinary Türkiye passport are NOT visa-exempt for Egypt, but they qualify for a visa on arrival (VOA). On landing at any major Egyptian international airport (Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, etc.) you buy a single-entry tourist visa sticker at a bank/visa counter in the arrivals hall before passport control, then proceed to immigration. The VOA permits a stay of up to 30 days and, since 1 March 2026, costs USD 30, payable in cash (USD, EUR or GBP). One restriction applies: Turkish nationals who were born in Egypt are NOT eligible for VOA and must obtain a visa from an Egyptian consulate in advance. As a recommended alternative, Türkiye travelers can apply for an Egypt e-Visa online (visa2egypt.gov.eg) at least 7 days before departure — the single-entry e-Visa also costs USD 30 and removes the airport queue. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival and have a blank page. For most tourists the VOA is the simplest route; choose the e-Visa if you prefer guaranteed pre-approval and a faster arrival.
