🇹🇷TÜRKIYE🇩🇪GERMANY (SCHENGEN)TR-DE Do Türkiye passport holders need a visa to visit Germany (Schengen)?
Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Germany for tourism. There is no visa-free or ETIAS option for Turkish citizens. Germany is part of the Schengen Area, and Türkiye is not on the Schengen visa-exemption list. As confirmed by Germany's Federal Foreign Office, ordinary Turkish passport holders must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Germany for tourism. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Because Turkish nationals are NOT visa-exempt, they do not fall within the scope of ETIAS — ETIAS applies only to visa-free travelers. Applications in Türkiye are submitted in person through iDATA, the official service provider authorized by the German Embassy, with centers in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, Gaziantep, and Trabzon. Applicants must provide biometric data (photo and, in most cases, fingerprints), travel health insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage, proof of accommodation and itinerary, and evidence of sufficient funds. The visa fee is EUR 90 plus an iDATA service fee, and standard processing takes about 15 calendar days.
