Türkiye to Costa Rica visa requirements

Turkish ordinary passport holders can enter Costa Rica visa-free for tourism. Turkey is in Costa Rica's Group 2, granting up to 30 days without a visa, extendable to 90 days through the immigration office once inside the country. No visa or eVisa is needed before travel. A Turkey ordinary passport holder does NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Costa Rica. Under Costa Rica's four-group visa policy (reaffirmed by the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería directive of November 17, 2025), Turkey sits in Group 2. Group 2 nationals receive a visa exemption granting an initial stay of up to 30 days, which can be extended at the discretion of immigration up to a total of 90 days. Costa Rica is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here. To use the visa-free channel, the traveler must hold a passport valid for at least the duration of stay (officially 3 months on arrival per the policy; many airlines and officers expect 6 months, so 6 months is the safe standard), present a confirmed onward/return ticket out of Costa Rica, and show proof of sufficient funds (a guideline of roughly US$100 per month of stay). Entry is granted by the immigration officer at the port of entry; admission and exact length are always at their discretion. If the traveler intends to stay beyond 90 days, work, or relocate, a different category (consular visa or residency) is required. Because Group 2 carries a shorter default stay and stricter passport-validity and onward-ticket scrutiny than Group 1, travelers should arrive well-documented.
