Türkiye to Afghanistan visa requirements

A Turkey ordinary passport holder needs a visa to enter Afghanistan; there is no visa-free or standard visa-on-arrival channel. Since spring 2026 Afghanistan runs an online tourist e-Visa (single entry, 30-day stay) usable only at Kabul International Airport. Important caveat: Turkish nationals are reportedly eligible for the e-Visa only if they apply from a country of residence OUTSIDE Turkey. Turkish residents in Turkey should instead apply at an Afghan embassy/consulate (e.g., Dubai or Islamabad). Afghanistan requires all Turkish (TR) ordinary passport holders to obtain a visa before travel; it grants no visa-free access and offers no general visa-on-arrival for tourists. In spring 2026 the Taliban administration launched an online tourist e-Visa via the E-Afghans portal (eafghans.com), issuing a single-entry visa good for stays up to 30 days, valid 90 days from issue, and currently accepted only when arriving at Kabul (Hamid Karzai) International Airport. The e-Visa costs roughly USD 8 (application) plus about USD 120-124 (visa fee), totalling around USD 128, with processing typically 1-3 weeks. A key restriction applies to Turkish citizens: alongside several neighbouring/regional nationalities (China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc.), Turkey is listed as eligible for the e-Visa only when the applicant resides outside their home country. Turkish nationals based in Turkey should therefore apply through a recognised Afghan embassy or consulate (commonly Dubai or Islamabad), where visas are often issued same-day for roughly USD 100-300+ depending on location. Israeli nationals are barred entirely. Land-border crossings and airports other than Kabul are not yet confirmed for e-Visa holders. Afghanistan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Given the active armed-conflict and terrorism environment, most foreign ministries (including for Turkish citizens) advise against all travel to Afghanistan.
