🇹🇭THAILAND🇿🇦SOUTH AFRICATH-ZA Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit South Africa?
Visa-free for up to 30 days. Thai ordinary passport holders can enter South Africa for tourism without a visa for stays of 30 days or less. Thailand (Kingdom of) appears on South Africa's official visa-exemption list (DIRCO/DHA, issued 18 June 2024). Ordinary Thai passport holders may enter South Africa visa-free for tourism for a maximum of 30 days per visit. The country is marked with an asterisk, meaning a visa (with fees) is only required if the intended stay exceeds 30 days; for longer or non-tourist stays you must apply for a visitor's visa in advance through VFS Global / the Department of Home Affairs. South Africa began phasing in a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) in late 2025, but as of May 2026 the ETA is mandatory only for selected visa-required nationals (China, India, Indonesia, Mexico) and is optional for visa-exempt travelers such as Thai citizens. To enter visa-free, ensure your passport is valid for at least 30 days beyond your departure date, has at least two blank pages, and carry proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds. Immigration officers grant the actual length of stay on arrival.
