Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit Taiwan?
Thai ordinary passport holders can enter Taiwan visa-free for up to 14 days under Taiwan's trial program (currently valid through July 31, 2026). No visa or pre-arrival authorization is required, but you must complete the online Taiwan Arrival Card before arrival. Taiwan grants nationals of Thailand visa-free entry for tourism and short visits as part of its New Southbound Policy. The current trial visa-free scheme allows a stay of up to 14 days per entry and has been extended by Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026. The passport must be an ordinary (regular) passport with at least six months of remaining validity on the date of entry, and travelers should carry a confirmed onward/return ticket, proof of accommodation, and sufficient funds. Since October 1, 2025, all arriving travelers must complete the online Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC), which has replaced the paper arrival card. The 14-day stay is non-extendable; travelers needing a longer stay must apply for an appropriate visa at a Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. Because this is a trial measure tied to a fixed expiry date, travelers should re-confirm the policy is still in force close to their travel date — if it lapses without renewal, a visitor visa would be required.
