Thailand to Somalia visa requirements

Thai (ordinary) passport holders need an eVisa to enter Somalia. Since 1 September 2025, Somalia requires every foreign visitor to obtain an approved electronic visa (eTAS) online before travel; there is no visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival for Thai citizens. Somalia launched a mandatory electronic visa (eTAS) system on 28 August 2025, which became compulsory for all foreign visitors from 1 September 2025. Visa-on-arrival was discontinued for most nationalities, and only Rwanda and Malaysia enjoy visa-free entry (30 days). A short visa-on-arrival list of select African nations remains. Thailand is not on either exemption list, so a Thai ordinary passport holder must apply online for the eVisa before departure. The standard tourist/visit eVisa costs about USD 65, is single-entry, valid 90 days from issue, and permits a stay of up to 30 days. Applications require a passport valid at least six months, a digital photo, and an invitation/sponsor code from a licensed Somali tour agency or registered business, since the system ties each applicant to an in-country sponsor for accountability. Standard processing is roughly 3-7 working days. The approved eVisa is emailed as a PDF and must be printed and presented on arrival (typically at Aden Adde International Airport, Mogadishu). Travelers should also note that Somalia carries serious security advisories; this guide covers entry documentation only.
