Thailand to Qatar visa requirements

Thai ordinary passport holders get a FREE visa on arrival in Qatar for up to 30 days for tourism. However, because of a Thailand-specific rule, you must pre-book your accommodation through the official Discover Qatar (VOA hotels) platform for the full duration of your stay BEFORE you fly; an ordinary hotel booking via Booking.com or Agoda is not accepted for this purpose. As of mid-2026, Thailand is on Qatar's free visa-on-arrival list. On arrival at Hamad International Airport, Thai nationals receive a single-entry tourist visa valid for 30 days, free of charge, extendable once for a further 30 days from inside Qatar. The passport must be valid for at least six months and you must show a confirmed onward/return ticket. The key catch unique to Thailand (shared only with India, Pakistan and Iran) is that Qatar's Ministry of Interior requires the hotel reservation to be made through the official Discover Qatar VOA hotel platform covering the entire stay; standard third-party bookings are not accepted at immigration. Thai travellers may also be asked to show a recent bank statement evidencing roughly QAR 5,000 in funds. A separate March 2025 Qatar-Thailand agreement waives visas for diplomatic/official/special passports only and does not change the rules for ordinary tourist passports. Qatar is not in the Schengen area, so no Schengen 90/180 or ETIAS rules apply. Because conditions can change at Qatar's discretion, confirm on visitqatar.com and discoverqatar.qa shortly before travel.
