Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit PL?
Thai ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) before traveling to Poland for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option, and ETIAS does not apply to Thai nationals. Poland is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Thailand is not on the EU Schengen visa-exempt list. A Thai citizen holding an ordinary passport must therefore obtain a Schengen Category C (short-stay) visa before traveling to Poland for tourism or a short visit. This single visa permits movement throughout the entire Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Applications are submitted in Thailand through the Polish Embassy in Bangkok or its outsourced visa application center, with biometrics, supporting documents, travel insurance of at least EUR 30,000, and an interview where Poland is known to ask detailed personal questions. The standard fee is EUR 90 for adults. Important 2026 context: ETIAS (the EU travel authorisation) is NOT for Thai nationals — it applies only to visa-exempt nationalities, so Thai travelers continue to need a full Schengen visa. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) went into full operation on 10 April 2026 and biometrically registers all non-EU arrivals, including Schengen visa holders, at the border.
