Thailand to Mozambique visa requirements

Thailand ordinary passport holders need a visa for Mozambique. They are NOT on Mozambique's visa-exemption or ETA-waiver lists, so the correct route is a Tourist eVisa applied for online at the official portal (evisa.gov.mz) before travel. A visa on arrival has historically been available as a fallback, but since the 11 February 2026 platform relaunch Mozambique pushes all travelers to obtain pre-departure authorization, and airlines now check it at boarding. A Thailand (TH) ordinary passport holder traveling to Mozambique (MZ) for tourism requires a visa. Mozambique's visa-exemption regime covers SADC member states (e.g. South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi) and a separate waiver/ETA list of roughly 29 mostly European and major-economy countries (e.g. UK, USA, China, Japan, South Korea, UAE, Singapore). Thailand appears on NEITHER list, so Thai nationals fall into the "visa-required" category and should obtain a Tourist eVisa through the official Mozambique National Immigration Service portal at evisa.gov.mz prior to departure. On 11 February 2026 Mozambique launched a new digital platform handling both eVisa and Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requests; non-exempt nationalities such as Thailand apply for the eVisa, selecting "Tourism" as the purpose. The Tourist eVisa is single-entry, allows up to 30 days (extendable in-country), and the published fee is about 6,250 MT (roughly USD 50-100). Processing is typically around five business days. A visa on arrival (about USD 50, 30 days) has historically been obtainable at major border posts on presentation of a passport valid 6 months, return/onward ticket and proof of funds, but it is increasingly treated as a fallback only: airlines now verify pre-travel authorization, so travelers without an eVisa/ETA may be denied boarding. The conservative, recommended path for a Thai tourist is to secure the eVisa online before flying.
