Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit Mexico?
Thai ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Mexico for tourism. Apply at a Mexican consulate before travel — unless you hold a valid visa or permanent residence card for the US, Canada, Japan, UK or a Schengen country, which lets you enter visa-free. Thailand is on Mexico's visa-required list, so an ordinary Thai passport holder normally must obtain a Mexican visitor visa (for tourism/business) from a Mexican embassy or consulate before departure. Mexico's free online SAE electronic authorization is NOT available to Thai nationals — it is limited to Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. However, Mexico applies a widely-used substitute exemption: a Thai citizen who physically holds a valid US, Canadian, Japanese, UK or Schengen visa, OR a permanent residence card from those countries (or Chile/Colombia for residence), may enter Mexico without a Mexican visa for up to 180 days for tourism. If you do not hold one of those documents, you must apply for the consular visitor visa. The visa is typically multiple-entry, allows stays of up to 180 days, costs around USD 54, and processing is fast (often a couple of working days after the interview), but appointments should be booked well in advance. All air arrivals are recorded electronically; the paper FMM tourist card has largely been replaced by a passport stamp showing the authorized number of days.

For guidance only — visa rules change with little notice. Always confirm directly with the destination's embassy or foreign ministry before booking non-refundable travel. Information here applies to ordinary (non-diplomatic) passports unless noted.
