Thailand to Liberia visa requirements

Thai passport holders need a visa for Liberia. The official route is Liberia's electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA): apply online at visaonarrival.lis.gov.lr before flying, pay USD 102.50, then collect the visa sticker at Roberts International Airport in Monrovia. Liberia is not visa-free for Thai citizens. As of mid-2026, a Thailand ordinary-passport holder is NOT eligible for visa-free entry to Liberia for tourism. Liberia operates an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) scheme launched by the Liberia Immigration Service on 11 March 2025 through the official portal visaonarrival.lis.gov.lr. Travelers must pre-apply online and pay the non-refundable USD 102.50 fee before departure; approval is delivered as a confirmation letter with a QR code. On arrival at Roberts International Airport (ROB) near Monrovia, the traveler presents the QR confirmation, completes biometric capture (fingerprints and facial photo), and receives a visa sticker in the passport. The visa is for a single entry only, and the permitted stay (30 or 90 days) is set by the immigration officer at the airport; the online approval itself remains valid for 3 months from issue. Important caveat: the online e-VOA is only for nationals/residents of countries that do NOT host a full Liberian embassy issuing visas (around 23 countries such as the US, UK, France and Belgium must use the embassy instead). Thailand has only an honorary consulate of Liberia in Bangkok, not a visa-issuing embassy, so Thai travelers use the online e-VOA portal. Applicants should apply at least 7 days before the flight (and no more than 3 months ahead) and carry a passport valid at least 6 months with two blank pages. Because the visa is collected at the airport after online pre-approval, the best single classification for a Thai short-stay tourist is visa-on-arrival (e-VOA). Note this is the inbound direction (TH to LR); separately, Thailand requires all arriving foreign nationals to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which is relevant only for travel into Thailand, not out of it.

/06 — The risks

Common refusal reasons

by frequency
/01
Liberia is not on a visa-waiver agreement with Thailand
There is no mutual visa-exemption treaty between Liberia and Thailand, so Thai passport holders cannot enter visa-free for tourism.
High
/02
Liberia requires pre-approval before boarding
Airlines expect a printed e-VOA approval with QR code before departure; arriving without it can lead to denied boarding.
High
/03
Single-entry limitation
The e-VOA is valid for one visit only. Travelers who leave and want to re-enter must obtain a new authorization.
Medium
/04
Stay length is decided at the airport
The immigration officer grants either 30 or 90 days at arrival, so the stay you assume may differ from what is stamped.
Medium
/05
Confusion with high-priced reseller sites
Several third-party sites charge around USD 210; using the official LIS portal at USD 102.50 avoids overpaying.
