Thailand to Kazakhstan visa requirements

No visa is required. Thai ordinary passport holders can enter Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 30 days per visit under the Thailand-Kazakhstan mutual visa exemption agreement (signed April 2024, in force since 2024), with a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period. Thailand and Kazakhstan operate a reciprocal visa-waiver agreement. Citizens of either country holding a valid ordinary national passport may enter, exit, transit, or stay in the other country without a visa for up to 30 days per visit, capped at a cumulative 90 days within any 180-day period. The deal was signed in Bangkok on 23 April 2024, approved by Kazakhstan's government on 14 August 2024, and formalized a visa-free regime that had previously run on a temporary/unilateral basis. For a short tourist trip, a Thai traveler simply needs a passport valid for at least six months and proof of onward travel and accommodation. Kazakhstan is in Central Asia and is not a Schengen state, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. If a Thai citizen plans to stay longer than 30 days on a single visit, an appropriate visa must be obtained in advance. Travelers must also complete the standard migration registration if staying beyond the permitted automatic window (typically handled automatically at air borders via the passenger control system).
