Thailand to Cambodia visa requirements

Thai ordinary passport holders can enter Cambodia visa-free as ASEAN citizens, but the visa-free stay was cut from 30 days to just 7 days in June 2025 due to the Cambodian-Thai border crisis. Critically, all land border crossings remain closed as of mid-2026, so the only viable route is by air (e.g. Bangkok to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap). For stays over 7 days, an eVisa or embassy visa is required. As a fellow ASEAN member state, Thailand normally enjoys reciprocal visa exemption with Cambodia, and Thai ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit. However, following the 2025 Cambodian-Thai border crisis (armed clashes beginning May 2025), Cambodia reduced the visa-free stay for Thai nationals from 30 days to 7 days, effective 9 June 2025, as a reciprocal measure mirroring Thailand's reduction of Cambodian nationals' stay to 7 days. This 7-day limit remains in force as of mid-2026. Just as importantly, all seven land border crossings between the two countries have been closed since June 2025 with no announced reopening date, meaning overland travel is not possible; travelers must fly between the two countries (Bangkok to Phnom Penh or Siem Reap). A passport valid for at least 6 months with one blank page is required. Thai travelers who need to stay longer than 7 days, or who want a single document covering a longer trip, should obtain Cambodia's eVisa (e-Visa, USD 30 + service fee, 30-day stay) before travel, or a tourist visa at a Cambodian embassy. Given the ongoing tensions, Thai travelers should check the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Immigration and Thailand's MFA advisories immediately before booking, and avoid the immediate border zone (subject to safety advisories).
