Thailand to Kenya visa requirements

Thai ordinary passport holders need an approved Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travelling for tourism. There is no visa-on-arrival and no full visa-free channel for Thailand; the eTA is applied for online at etakenya.go.ke for roughly USD 34. Since January 2024 Kenya abolished its traditional visa and now requires every foreign visitor — with the exception of a defined exemption list — to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before boarding. Thailand is not on Kenya's eTA-exempt list (which covers East African Community states and around 40 named countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa), so Thai ordinary passport holders must apply for and receive an approved eTA prior to travel. The eTA is a fully online process via the official government portal etakenya.go.ke. Applicants upload a passport bio-data page, a passport-style photo, and proof of accommodation and onward/return travel, then pay the fee (USD 34 standard service charge). Approvals are issued for single entry, are valid for travel within 90 days of issuance, and normally permit a tourist stay of up to 90 days as determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry. Official guidance advises applying at least 3 working days before departure; processing typically completes within 2-3 working days. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if arriving from or transiting a yellow-fever-risk country.
