Thailand to Iran visa requirements

Thai ordinary passport holders need a visa for Iran. The standard route is the official Iran e-Visa, applied for online before travel; a visa on arrival is also available at major airports but is less reliable. Iran is not visa-free for Thailand and is not part of the Schengen area. A Thailand ordinary passport holder cannot enter Iran visa-free. Thailand is not among Iran's small list of visa-exempt countries, so a tourist visa is required for any short visit. The recommended and most reliable channel is Iran's official electronic visa, applied for through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (evisa.mfa.ir / evisatraveller.mfa.ir) before departure. Iran also offers a visa on arrival (VOA) for most nationalities including Thai citizens at major international airports, but applicants are advised to pre-register the same online application and present the printed Grant Notice at the VOA counter, so in practice the e-Visa workflow is the safest path. The standard tourist visa is single entry, allowing up to 30 days of stay (extendable in-country by two further 30-day periods, up to 90 days total). The government visa fee depends on nationality and is paid in euros, typically in the 50-80 EUR range for the single-entry tourist e-Visa, plus a small service/authorization fee where an agency is used; travel medical insurance covering Iran is mandatory. Passport must be valid at least six months. Iran is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
