Thailand to Iraq visa requirements

Thai (ordinary) passport holders need a visa to enter Iraq. Thailand is NOT on Iraq's streamlined eVisa-eligible nationality list, so the reliable channel is a consular/embassy visa obtained from an Iraqi diplomatic mission before travel. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry for federal Iraq (visa-on-arrival was suspended on 1 March 2025). As of mid-2026, a Thailand ordinary passport holder traveling to federal Iraq for tourism requires a visa arranged in advance. Iraq suspended its general visa-on-arrival facility on 1 March 2025 and rolled out an electronic visa (eVisa) system, but the eVisa is open only to a defined list of roughly 37-43 nationalities (mostly EU/EEA, UK, US, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Russia). Thailand does not appear on that eligible list per Wikipedia's visa policy page, the eVisa eligible-countries listings, and Sherpa's TIMATIC-based guidance, which states plainly that Thai citizens need an embassy visa. Some commercial visa-agency sites claim Thai nationals can apply for the eVisa (under a slower-processing tier), but this is not confirmed by the official eligible-countries list, so the conservative and accurate position is that a consular visa is required. The traveler should contact the Embassy of Iraq in Bangkok (or nearest Iraqi mission) to lodge a Visitor visa application. Separately, the Kurdistan Region (Erbil/Sulaymaniyah) operates its own entry regime with a visa-on-arrival / eVisa option for some nationalities, but a Kurdistan-issued permit does not authorize travel into federal Iraq. Note also a February 2025 rule requiring proof of Iraqi health insurance for arriving foreign nationals.
