Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit Finland?

Thai ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Category C) visa before traveling to Finland for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option. Finland is a member of the Schengen Area, and Thailand is not on the EU's visa-exempt list. A Thai ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) for tourism before departure. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications for Finland as the main destination are lodged in person in Thailand through the VFS Global visa application centre in Bangkok (and Chiang Mai), with biometrics collected. The standard adult fee is EUR 90, plus a VFS service fee, and standard processing is up to 15 calendar days (longer in peak season). Note that ETIAS - the EU's online travel authorization launching in Q4 2026 - applies only to visa-exempt nationalities and does NOT replace the visa requirement for Thai citizens; Thai travelers continue to need a full Schengen visa.
