Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit CZ?
Thai ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Czechia for tourism. Apply in person through VFS Global in Bangkok before travel. Czechia is a member of the Schengen Area, and Thailand is NOT on the Schengen visa-exempt list. A Thai ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Czechia for tourism or any short visit. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area, not just Czechia. Applications for travel to the Czech Republic must be submitted exclusively in person through the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Bangkok (after booking an appointment), with Czechia as the main destination. The standard visa fee is EUR 90, payable in Thai baht, plus a VFS service charge. Required documents include a valid passport, completed application form, biometric photos, round-trip flight reservation, accommodation proof, a day-by-day itinerary, travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage, proof of sufficient funds (bank statements), and proof of ties to Thailand (employment/business). Standard processing is up to 15 calendar days but can extend to 30-45 days in busy periods. Because Thailand is visa-required for Schengen, ETIAS (the EU travel authorization launching in late 2026) does NOT apply to Thai nationals — they continue to need a full visa. Apply no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before departure.
