Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit China?

Visa-free up to 30 days under the bilateral agreement signed in 2024 — permanent arrangement. Thai ordinary passport holders enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days per entry under the Thailand-China bilateral mutual visa exemption agreement, which took effect on 1 March 2024 as a permanent arrangement (not subject to China's unilateral policy renewals). The agreement covers tourism, business meetings, family visits, exchanges, and transit. Stays beyond 30 days, paid work, study, or journalism still require an appropriate Chinese visa. Travellers must register with local police (派出所) within 24 hours of arrival if not staying at a hotel — hotels handle this automatically. Hong Kong and Macau are separate immigration jurisdictions with their own arrangements.
