Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit CH?

Yes. Thai ordinary passport holders need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Switzerland. Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, and Thailand is a visa-required nationality. Thai ordinary passport holders must obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before travelling to Switzerland for tourism. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications are submitted in Thailand through VFS Global (Bangkok and other centres) or the Regional Consular Centre Bangkok, by appointment. Because ETIAS applies only to visa-exempt nationals, it does NOT replace the visa requirement for Thai travellers; Thais continue to use the standard Schengen visa process. Note the new EES biometric border system became fully operational on 10 April 2026.
