Do Thailand passport holders need a visa to visit Brazil?
No visa needed. Thai ordinary passport holders enter Brazil visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days under the long-standing Brazil–Thailand bilateral agreement (in force since 1999). A Thailand ordinary passport holder does NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Brazil. Under a reciprocal bilateral visa-exemption agreement in force since 27 October 1999, Thai citizens may enter Brazil for tourism, business, or transit for up to 90 days. The stay can be extended once by the Federal Police after arrival, capped at 180 days total within any 12-month period. Important context: from 1 January 2026 Brazil made an electronic visa (VIVIS eVisa) mandatory for roughly 30 nationalities — but these are reciprocity cases (the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, France, Argentina and ~20 others whose countries require visas of Brazilians). Thailand is NOT on that list because Thailand grants Brazilians visa-free entry, so reciprocity keeps Thai citizens visa-free. At entry, carry a passport valid for the stay, a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, and evidence of sufficient funds (about R$248 per day). Amounts of R$10,000 or foreign-currency equivalent must be declared to customs. No advance application, no eVisa, and no visa-on-arrival are required.
