Thailand to Bolivia visa requirements

Thailand ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Bolivia for tourism. The visa-on-arrival option that previously existed for Group 2/3 nationals was discontinued on 25 July 2025, so the visa must now be obtained in advance from a Bolivian embassy or consulate (with an online pre-application via the Visacent portal). The tourist visa costs about USD 30, allows up to 30 days per entry (extendable to 90 days/year), and is valid for entry within 90 days of issue. Bolivia classifies countries into three groups. Thailand falls outside Group 1 (visa-free), placing Thai citizens in the visa-required category (historically Group 2/3). Until mid-2025, these nationals could obtain a visa on arrival at Bolivian airports and land borders, but Bolivian immigration removed that channel from Timatic and confirmed (via diplomatic missions) that visa-on-arrival for these groups ended on 25 July 2025. As of mid-2026, Thai ordinary passport holders must obtain a tourist visa BEFORE travel from a Bolivian embassy or consulate. Thailand has no resident Bolivian mission, so applications are typically handled by the nearest accredited Bolivian diplomatic mission (e.g., in Tokyo, Beijing, New Delhi, or a South American consulate) or initiated through Bolivia's online Visacent application portal, which still requires finalizing the visa sticker through a consulate. The tourist (visitor) visa permits a stay of up to 30 days per entry, extendable at Bolivian migration offices (Migración) up to a cumulative 90 days per calendar year. The standard government fee is approximately USD 30. Required documents include a passport valid at least six months, passport photos, proof of onward/return travel, proof of accommodation or itinerary, proof of sufficient funds, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from or transiting an endemic area or visiting Amazon/lowland regions. Travelers should not rely on visa-on-arrival and should confirm current procedures directly with the Bolivian mission before booking, as Bolivia has adjusted its entry rules several times in recent years.
