Thailand to Albania visa requirements

As of 1 June 2026, Thailand ordinary passport holders need a visa for Albania. The 2025 seasonal visa-free tourism window (15 Apr - 31 Dec 2025) has expired, so the practical route now is the official Albanian Type C short-stay e-Visa applied for online before travel. Albania does not grant year-round visa-free access to ordinary Thai passport holders. Thailand is absent from Albania's permanent visa-exemption list and appears only for diplomatic/service passports. During 2025 Albania ran a seasonal tourism exemption (allowing visa-free stays of up to 90 days for Thai citizens from 15 April to 31 December 2025), but that measure lapsed at the end of 2025 and, as of this update, has not been confirmed as renewed for 2026. Travelers should therefore plan on obtaining a visa. The fastest and most common route is the Albanian Type C short-stay e-Visa, applied for online through the official government portal (e-visa.al) before departure. The standard government fee is EUR 60, the permitted stay is up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, and processing typically runs about 9-15 business days (Thai applicants are advised to allow longer and apply at least 6 weeks ahead). Albania is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply here; Albania operates its own visa regime and its own 90/180 counting for short stays. Travelers holding a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa (or a valid US/UK visa) that has already been used once may, under Albania's standard policy, enter visa-free for short stays, but those relying solely on a Thai passport should obtain the Albanian e-Visa. Conservatively, the verdict for a plain Thai ordinary passport is that a visa (e-Visa) is required.
