Thailand to Afghanistan visa requirements

Thai ordinary passport holders need a visa for Afghanistan, but as of March 2026 they can apply online for a single-entry tourist e-Visa through the official E-Afghans portal instead of visiting an embassy. Afghanistan grants no visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to ordinary Thai passport holders. Since March 2026, Afghanistan operates an online e-Visa system (E-Afghans portal, eafghans.com) that issues single-entry tourist e-Visas to citizens of nearly all countries, including Thailand. Thailand is not on the ineligible list (Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) nor on the residency-restricted list (e.g. China, India, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE), so Thai nationals can apply freely. The e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days, must be used within 90 days of issue, and is currently valid only for arrival at Kabul (Hamid Karzai) International Airport - it is not yet accepted at land borders. The total cost is roughly USD 123.71 (an USD 8 application fee plus an USD ~120 visa fee with processing surcharge). Applicants submit a passport copy, photo, accommodation details and a brief itinerary; processing typically takes 1-3 weeks. Note that Afghanistan remains under severe travel advisories from most governments; this guide covers entry permission only, not safety.
