Saudi Arabia to Romania visa requirements

Yes. As of mid-2026 a Saudi Arabian ordinary passport holder needs a visa to visit Romania. Romania became a full Schengen member on 1 January 2025, so tourists from Saudi Arabia must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travel. The visa allows up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area. A proposed EU visa-waiver for Saudi nationals and ETIAS are NOT yet in force, so a full visa is still required. Romania joined the Schengen Area as a full member on 1 January 2025, abolishing land, air and sea border checks with other Schengen states. Saudi Arabia remains on the EU's visa-required list (Annex I of Regulation 2018/1806), so Saudi ordinary passport holders cannot enter visa-free or via ETIAS. They must apply for a uniform Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) for tourism, lodged through the Romanian Embassy/Consulate or its authorised visa application centre in Saudi Arabia before travel. The standard adult fee is EUR 90 (raised EU-wide on 11 June 2024), plus a service-centre charge. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period and is valid throughout the Schengen Area. Under EU "visa cascade" rules adopted in April 2024, Saudi nationals with good travel history can now be issued long-validity multi-entry Schengen visas (up to 5 years). A full EU short-stay visa waiver for Saudi citizens is under negotiation but is NOT yet in force as of May 2026; ETIAS (when launched, expected late 2026) will apply only once a waiver exists, so it is currently irrelevant for Saudi travellers.
